We are looking for Sword & Sorcery, High Fantasy, and Heroic Fantasy fiction from 1000 to 8000 words. We want fiction with an emphasis on action and adventure, but still cognizant of struggles within as they play against the struggels without.

The editors are not in the business of stifling talent or ideas so as a standard rule for us we will read anything that is of a speculative nature.

Analog will consider material submitted by any writer, and consider it solely on the basis of merit. We are definitely eager to find and develop new, capable writers.

Quote:
Looking primarily for accessible, epic/heroic fantasy suitable for all ages…fiction that incorporates strong elements of heroic myth, adventure-oriented themes, and exotic and colorful settings.
Guidelines

Guidelines

...we love all kinds of horror and suspense and crime fiction...send us stories that are powerful and emotional, chilling and disturbing, moody and scary.
Guidelines
Quote:
Our only across-the-board restrictions are that stories have some speculative or fantastic element, something that distinguishes them from purely mainstream, "slice-of-life" sotries, and we want them to be accessible to all readers…

…literate speculative fiction. This includes science fiction, fantasy, horror, magic realism, literary, and especially unclassifiable stories with compelling characters and a compelling plot…
