Don't just write about any subject - choose one that you have a real passion for. Writing about something with enthusiasm makes the world of difference; it is a wonderful thing to be able to write a book so, it shouldn't feel like a chore. Look back over the books that you have read over the years and determine your genre. From experience, it makes planning and writing the novel so much more fun.
